You should have an interest in learning about and improving Congress or technology policy.
TechCongress is building 21st century government with technology talent through our Congressional Innovation Fellowship and Congressional Innovation Scholars Program. We are a nonprofit with a mission to bridge the divide between Congress and the technology sector by placing technologists to work with Members of Congress and Congressional Committees in order to build capacity in Congress, train cross-sector leaders— who can understand the challenges of government and the technology community— and keep Congress up-to-date about the latest challenges and opportunities relating to technology.
We are looking for a self-starting intern to help us grow the program!
About the Intern: TechCongress is looking for a Programs Intern to work with staff and fellows. You will participate in TechCongress’ support of our Congressional Innovation Fellows and Scholars and contribute to our communications strategy. Whether this internship will be remote / virtual or in Washington DC will be determined during the hiring process. TechCongress is a distributed team, across the country, and remote work is possible. This is a paid position.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Support the administration of the Congressional Innovation Fellowship and the Congressional Innovation Scholars program
Support the organization and implementation of our recruitment events;
Support TechCongress’ editorial efforts - research, content creation, and copyediting;
Support analysis and strategic planning of our social media and podcast strategy
Help keep TechCongress’ website current, creating and uploading content
Support TechCongress events through live tweeting
Assist with TechCongress’ monthly newsletter by summarizing recent work
You will also have the opportunity to author or co-author blog posts, articles, press releases or press pitches, as well as the chance to attend educational events.
A self-starter who can take on projects with minimal supervision;
Strong written and verbal communications skills;
Strong organizational skills, and keen attention to detail;
Available to work between 20-40 hours a week (part-time or full-time).
Additional Skills (a plus, but not required):
Familiarity with Squarespace, MailChimp, Zapier, Canva or image editing software;
Experience managing organizational social media accounts (non-personal accounts);
Experience with working on a podcast;
Interest in tech and policy.
